Relationships
You will be an important part of the Waste Water Treatment Plant Operators Team.
You will report directly to the Waste Water Manager and work within a Team environment at the Washington Beef Processing plant.
Cultivates and supports a Team environment within the Waste Water group
Personal integrity, trustworthiness and confidentiality are paramount to this position.
Knowledge, Skill set and Responsibilities
Must have knowledge of the physical, chemical, and biology elements associated with wastewater treatment.
Have knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
The ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs and/or trends.
The ability to calculate and summarize data and information. This includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations in conjunction with trend data.
The ability to operate and control the actions of equipment and processes requiring complex and/or rapid adjustments.
Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form, includes semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of actions.
Requires the ability to exercise knowledgeable judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
Must be able to maintain written documentation in an accurate concise and timely manner.
Provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations as needed.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the wastewater system.
Report all pertinent information professionally and clearly to the wastewater manager on a daily basis. If the manager is off-site, provide a written summary via e-mail.
General information regarding our WWTP Operation & System
Employee assures a Safety First environment for conducting all waste water tasks.
Washington Beef is a Type 2 wastewater facility.
This lead operator position must be Group 3 certified or attain this certification within 6 months of employment.
Water - potable
Washington Beef has a public water system designated as a Group A - NTNC.
Our water system designation requires the lead operator be certified or certifiable within 1 year as a Water Distribution Manager (WDM1)
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of a Waste Water Treatment Facility using screening, dissolved air floatation, anaerobic lagoons, aerobic treatment (preferably SBR experience), UV and liquid chlorine disinfection, and solids dewatering (preferably screw press experience).
Ability to climb & work from stairs or ladder with occasional bending / crouching / crawling to complete assigned tasks.
Exposure to weather extremes, noxious odors, chemicals & raw sewage.
Use of PPE as required and promoting a safe working condition for all employees
Physical strength & ability to perform assigned tasks & PM's as required

Minimum of five years Waste Water Treatment System experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High school diploma
