69/Regular/Full-TimeThe Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive marketing plan for all assigned divisions to increase department revenues.
The priority of this position is to build diversity, inclusion, and innovation into the delivery of tribal initiatives that align with the current Economic Development Department goals.
The department may include, but is not limited to:
Economic Development, Cultural Heritage Center (CHC) Gift Shop, Museum, Theater, and Convention Center.
This position will develop innovative marketing campaigns for the Cultural Heritage Center and serve as the primary tourism, social media content creator, and public communication specialist.
Incumbent must identify and pursue tourism and marketing funding opportunities to respectfully market and highlight the Yakama Reservation.
The focus must also be devoted to establishing partnerships with tribal, local, state, and national marketing and tourism organizations to drive the reservation economy.
Examples of Work Performed:
Develop, execute, monitor, and update a marketing plan for the Cultural Heritage Center.
Act as the marketing lead coordinating all marketing efforts, including internal communication, creative design, advertising, digital signage, community partnerships, and social media.
Apply marketing principles in collaboration with division managers to create new campaigns and initiatives to drive targeted revenue.
Identify and measure key performance indicators and provide recommendations on marketing strategy.
Act as a primary contact for tourism efforts to coordinate tours, communicate updates, solicit, and analyze feedback, and coordinate, track, monitor, and follow up on marketing initiatives.
Manage and oversee the department's website and other social media accounts to ensure that critical messages, graphics, and photos/videos are updated on a consistent basis.
Identify and collaborate on cross-promotional opportunities with all Yakama Nation enterprises.
Develop an annual calendar of events for the CHC and the Yakama Nation.
Prepares materials and schedule time and space at local events to market the CHC and Yakama Nation.
Inspires trust and confidence in the community and visiting tourists while building partnerships with other professional organizations to increase tourism.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Yakama culture, traditions, and history.
Knowledge of marketing principles and practices and state-of-the-art marketing techniques.
Knowledge of business management principles.
Knowledge of public relations and techniques.
Knowledge of Yakama Nation policies, procedures, and regulations regarding program management, including budgeting.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural community matrix.
Ability to communicate in a positive and welcoming manner that exemplifies professionalism.
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the Yakama Nation businesses/attractions/activities and cultural events.
Must demonstrate experience with digital graphics, content development, computer-aided design, and image manipulation.
Ability to speak publicly and function effectively under stressful working conditions.
Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule as promotional and special events demand.
Ensures control/protection of all entrusted tribal assets.
Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
Proficient use of the internet, Microsoft Suite applications, and other computer software.
Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Other duties as assigned which align with the goals of the Economic Development Department.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field and two (2) years of project management experience or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

TRAINEE:
The Yakama Nation reserves the right to practice Indian Preference by selecting an Indian applicant as a trainee at a reduced pay rate than announced.
A training plan is developed to assist employee to reach required qualification requirements and performance level.
After completing training plan, work performance will be evaluated.
Upon satisfying qualification requirements, employee will obtain entry level pay.
INDIAN PREFERENCE:
In efforts to practice Self-Determination, the Yakama Nation grants Indian Preference for employment, promotions, and transfers to its employees and qualified applicants as appropriate.
This may limit career opportunities for non-Indian applicants and candidates.
Preference for employment will be granted to qualified individuals meeting minimal qualification criteria in the following order pursuant to the YN Personnel Policy Manual Section 2.

VETERAN PREFERENCE:
Is pursuant to Section 402 of the Vietnam Era Veteran's Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974.
