70/Regular/Full-TimeIs responsible for the general management of the office in regards to accounts payable workflow, check runs, journal entry distribution, and maintaining the address book for the Yakama Nation.
Employee will provide support and assistance with audit preparation, resolve problematic issues, prepare/mail 1099's, monitor and oversee the work of Central Accounting AP employees.
Will be involved in the interviewing process of Accounts Payable employees, preparation of the Accounts Payable payroll actions and arranging training for new and existing employees.
Examples of Work Performed:
Responsible for monitoring accounts payable work flow and shifting employees to different job tasks in order to ensure smooth operations.
Responsible for maintaining Accounts Payable employee files, timesheets, and evaluation dates.
Responsible for setting up payments for voiding and reissuing.
Responsible for verifying federal tax identification numbers using the Internal Revenue Service or Social Security Administration website.
Responsible for processing Accounts Payable timesheets and leave audits.
Responsible for ordering supplies and paying department invoices.
Responsible for the arrangement of travel for staff.
Responsible for communicating detail of work related issues to the manager.
Verifies daily deposits and ensures they are taken to the bank nightly.
Responsible for verifying vendor updates and updating Yakama Nation address book accurately.
Responsible for reviewing accounts payable entries and ensuring capital expenditures are expensed accordingly.
Assist the Accounting Manager in overseeing the budget and ensuring cost effective purchases.
Assist auditor at year end creating expense and revenue report into excel format.
Process travel authorizations in accordance with Yakama Nation Policies and Grant and Contracts regulations.
Prepares and reviews the annual 1099's for accuracy, sending transmission to the IRS.
Assists in cross training staff in various positions to review and input payables, journal entries, and batch daily cash receipts.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft Office products including, Word,Excel, Power Point, and Access, as well as financial reporting systems.
Knowledge of A87, A102, A33, CFR2.
Knowledge of the chart of accounts and program budgets.
Knowledge of supervisory and management principles and practices.
Ability to run reports such as trial balances, revenue and expenses, and payroll as needed.
Ability to express ideas and convey information effectively; verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with three years of progressively responsible office management or bookkeeping experience.
Seven years of progressively responsible office management, bookkeeping experience or closely related work experience may substitute for education.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Required to pass pre-employment background check.
Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Requirements:
Master's Degree with two years of progressively responsible office management or bookkeeping experience.

TRAINEE:
The Yakama Nation reserves the right to practice Indian Preference by selecting an Indian applicant as a trainee at a reduced pay rate than announced.
A training plan is developed to assist employee to reach required qualification requirements and performance level.
After completing training plan, work performance will be evaluated.
Upon satisfying qualification requirements, employee will obtain entry level pay.
