Financial Specialist II

This person assists with planning, developing, implementing, auditing, and preparing budgets and invoices for grants and contracts, as well as performing reconciliations and analysis of accounting records. Applies knowledge of GAAP to perform monthly reconciliations and journal entries to assist in the preparation of financial statements.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management OR 4 years of directly applicable experience.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: None.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Proficient skill level using Excel, knowledge of office practice and procedures; ability to use standard office machines; ability to maintain accurate and legible records; ability to prepare reports using arithmetic and computer spreadsheets; knowledge of computers and relevant software; ability to work independently with minimal direction; ability to communicate effectively orally and through writing; and ability to prioritize tasks and schedule work time. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP. Working knowledge of state grant regulations and principles preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
